Required Before Occupancy

Most municipalities in Alberta require a passing water quality test before issuing an occupancy permit on a new home. As a builder, you need this done right and on time. We coordinate directly with your site schedule, collect samples from the correct locations, and get them to the lab without delay.

We Work Around Your Schedule

We know that delays cost builders money. Our team coordinates directly with your site schedule to collect samples at the right stage of construction — typically once the plumbing is commissioned and flushed. We submit samples to the AHS lab promptly and provide you with the results and documentation you need for permit submission.

One Less Thing to Manage at Close

The end of a build is busy. Water testing is one of those final checklist items that can hold up possession if it is not handled early. We work with production builders, custom home builders, and infill developers across the Edmonton area to take this off your plate and get you the results you need, on time.

Civil Water Main Testing

When a new subdivision’s water mains are installed, they must be pressure tested and disinfected before the municipality will accept them. Oasis Engineering manages this entire process on behalf of developers and contractors — from the initial hydrostatic pressure test through chlorination, flushing, and final bacteriological sampling submitted to an accredited lab.

Municipalities require passing results before the infrastructure is commissioned and connected to the public system. We provide all documentation needed for municipal acceptance.

Hydrostatic Pressure Testing

New water mains are pressure tested at a minimum of 75 psi above operating pressure for a minimum of two hours. The main must hold pressure within acceptable limits for the test to pass. We conduct the test, monitor results, and prepare the report required for the next steps in the commissioning process.

Disinfection & Bacteriological Testing

Once the main passes the pressure test, it is chlorinated and flushed following municipal standards. We then collect water samples and submit them to an accredited laboratory for bacteriological analysis. A passing result confirms the main is free of contamination and ready for municipal acceptance.
